Aircraft Deicing Basic Operations Training Course

An introduction and insight into De/Anti-Icing Operations for non-spraying staff

Introduction

Aircraft Ground Deicing involves a safety-critical process, crucial to the operation of aircraft in colder weather. Whilst those actively involved in the de/anti-icing process require an extensive understanding of why and how to do it, this course provides a basic understanding for frontline operational employees (such as Turnaround Coordinators and those that work on the ramp), to develop knowledge of what de/anti-icing is, why it is important, and the role all operational employees play in maintaining safety standards throughout colder weather.

During the course, we look at the regulations, SAE International requirements and industry best practice, clean aircraft concept, fluid management, equipment and facilities used in de/anti-icing  - as well as safety emergencies and procedures.

The duration of this course is 1 day.

For those requiring a more intensive insight into de/anti-icing, we can also offer our Aircraft Ground Deicing Training Course for spraying operatives, or our Aircraft Deicing Management Course, ideal for non-spraying management and supervisory teams who are required to oversee the de/anti-icing process.

  • 1. Why is it important?

Removal of all contamination from aircraft surfaces during cold weather is a must. The industry operates the "clean aircraft" concept to ensure that safety is never compromised. Whilst this course is not aimed at those undertaking and performing a de/anti-icing operation, it is vital for frontline operational personnel to be aware of the core processes, procedures and best practices which keep aircraft safe during colder weather operations.

  • 2. Who should attend?

This course is suited to frontline non-spraying operational staff (such as Turnaround Coordinators and those that work on the ramp), to gain an understanding of the de/anti-icing operation and why it is so important.

Please note: we only provide this training course for our clients as an 'in company' training course. Unfortunately, we don't offer this course for private individuals.

  • 3. Course objectives

To provide participants with a basic understanding of the aircraft ground deicing operation, what it is, why it is important, and the role all operational staff play in maintaining safety standards in cold weather.
