Aviation Basics and Airside Safety Training Course

Entry-level training course for those who new to the aviation industry

Introduction

Airside and ramp operations can be complex environments with a variety of unique rules and procedures. Those who are new to this world may find working there a daunting prospect.

This entry-level training course is aimed at those without experience who would like to work within the airside ramp environment. The course guides participants through the basic principles and disciplines of working within this area, starting with terms and definitions, and understanding the principles of airside safety and human factors before finishing with a Dangerous Goods Category 8.

The course pre-qualifies those who attend to undertake basic airside tasks in accordance with IATA AHM requirements which should be acceptable for the majority of the world's airports.

The course is designed to be in conformance with the applicable elements of the latest version of IATA AHM 1110.

The duration of this course is 2 days.

Please note: this course does not include ADP (Airside Driving Permit), training which is typically undertaken by (or on behalf of) the Airport Operator.

We regularly deliver this training course for our partner Red Sky Personnel as part of their Business Support offering.

1. Why is it important?

The aviation industry defines training standards for those undertaking work at airports through the IATA AHM (Airport Handling Manual). The airside ramp environment is a busy but potentially hazardous area frequented by a multitude of persons and vehicles undertaking time driven activities. Any staff working here must be properly trained to the required standard.

2. Who should attend?

The course is for those without previous aviation experience who would like to work airside, undertaking tasks such as baggage handling and other basics activities.
