Dangerous Goods Awareness (Cat 7-10) Training Course
The course is aligned to the latest requirements of IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR).
Introduction
The ICAO Technical instructions (Part 1; 4.1) require that initial and recurrent dangerous goods training programmes must be established, maintained and provided to those who come into contact with cargo, mail or passenger baggage.
This course is aligned to the latest requirements of IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR).
We offer categories 7, 8, 9 and 10;
Category 7 - Operators and ground handling agent staff accepting cargo and mail (other than dangerous goods)
Category 8 - Operators and ground handling agent staff involved in the handling, storage and loading of cargo or mail or baggage
Category 9 - Passenger handling staff
Category 10 - Flight crew members, loadmasters , load planners and flight operations officers/flight dispatchers
Dangerous goods can pose a major risk to aircraft and personnel safety, and so being aware of the risks and how to manage them is fundamental for those working with cargo, mail or passenger baggage. During this course, participants gain a strong understanding of the different types and classifications of dangerous goods - how to label, handle and store them - as well as the safety and emergency response procedures in place.
Our courses are highly practical, based on industry best practices, and supported by relevant real-world industry examples and case studies.
All course content is delivered in accordance with the latest requirements of IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.
The duration of this course is either one half day or one whole day depending on the category.
1. Why is it important?
Everyone who may come into contact with Dangerous Goods needs to be aware of the presence of such goods, their potential for causing incidents and accidents, and how to deal with them. Dangerous goods are commodities that possess potentially dangerous characteristics but, as long as suitable precautions are taken, air transport of such goods need not be dangerous.
2. Who should attend?
IATA DGR specifies that anyone involved in the acceptance, storage, handling or loading cargo and baggage must undertake Dangerous Goods Training at 24 month intervals. This would include passenger handling, ramp, load planning and cargo staff, their supervisors and, where applicable, management teams. We can also provide training for Flight and Cabin crews.
